POOL COMMITTEE MEETING  -  October 7, 2007

Frank Fryer and Marc Valenti conducted the meeting. The main topic was the winterizing of the pool bathrooms. Some of the bathrooms have already been secured for the winter. (Yes, I know it is early October and the temperature is still in the 80′s). This was not a pool committee decision.

The pool furniture has been stored in the bathrooms and the bathrooms are off limits because they have been winterized. The Bathrooms at the Bray Birch Pool, the Old Denton Pool and the Slide Pool have amenities that families use year round. The issue has been raised that the restrooms should be opened all year. We are currently exploring the use of the pools on a continuous basis and if adopted the restrooms need to be open.

We are asking all residents to contact via email the chair of the Pool Committee and indicate your position regarding pool access year round. The Slide Pool cannot open because the law requires us to provide lifeguards and our budget doesn’t support that expense. The pools are currently kept in swimming condition all year long even though they are closed. The only additional expense we will incur is utilities cost of using the bathrooms. We will be eliminating the cost of winterizing each bathroom.
