July Pool Committe Meeting
Pool Committee Meeting July 10, 2009
Marc Valenti, Frank Friar, Gary Honaker
The meeting was conducted and the Chair of the Pool Committee announced that Kellie Skellie has resigned from the Pool Committee due to her commitment to the maintenance committee.
A discussion regarding vandalism, pool issues, lifeguards and security personnel brought out minor issues. Vandalism, although very heavy from November to April was reduced in the month of May but still at a troubling rate. June 2009 had no incidents of vandalism and July is currently vandalism free.
The allotted money for the hail damage was discussed and we discussed alternative methods of securing the roof on the Slide Pool Equipment Roof. It still appears that our only way to stop skateboarders from destroying the roofing material on this particular building is to enclose the building with a fence. We will discuss this with the Chair of the HOA Advisory Board and if he agrees with the Pool Committee Chair, we will erect the fence and replace the roof with the hail damage funds. .
The committee was advised that the Old Denton pool artificial trees need to be replaced. The committee recommends they be removed due to the damage they received regarding the Hail. We have the funds to replace the trees (via the insurance money) but the committee feels that it would be best to remove them. These trees are unable to stay in good condition because of the high winds and they are not aesthetically pleasing.
Gary brought up his interaction with the security personnel. He has explained to security that VOWS would like all pool cards verified for all pool patrons. The issues seem to be non existent with the lifeguard company. All the other pools were discussed and other than the pre existing faulty construction at the Amenity Center and the Amenity Center Pool (kiddie pool now closed), no new issues were raised. The Developer has authorized the repairs and will forward the cost to Lennar Homes since the pool is under warranty and they were paid to have the pool installed. Also, the roofs of all the buildings needed decking and other repairs not related directly to the hail, but it made sense to do the repairs to the decking when we were repairing the hail damage. The hail damage funds will be utilized to pay for all building repairs not directly hail related that were made accessible while repairing the hail damage roofs.
