Timber Creek Craft Show

Timber Creek High School is officially open and buzzing with activity right here in Woodland Springs. With the first year of the newest High School in Keller ISD, there will be many new traditions created and new organizations.  One such organization is the Sky Dancers Drill Team at Timber Creek High School. The Sky Dancers have been busy in the community with a car wash, selling Timber Creek High School T- Shirts and asking businesses to show their support by sponsoring the drill team and displaying a proud sponsor decal in the business window. Cell Phones Banned in School Zones

Most cell phone use banned in school zones.

Effective Sept. 1, drivers will no longer be able to use cell phones in school zones except in specific circumstances.

Under a bill passed this year by the Texas Legislature, using wireless devices in school zones is allowed only if the vehicle is stopped, the phone is used with a hands-free device or is being used to make a call to emergency authorities.

The offense is a misdemeanor punishable by a fine of up to $200. Fort Worth’s Transportation and Public Works Department is installing about 600 new signs to warn drivers when they’ve entered a no-chat school zone.

The National Safety Council is calling for a total ban on cell phone use by drivers nationwide, based on estimates that the practice contributes to 6 percent of the 636,000 annual crashes. About half the crashes result in injuries, including 2,600 deaths, the NSC reports.

Pool Committee Meeting September 4, 2009

The meeting was conducted and Frank Friar, Marc Valenti and Eddie Outcalt were present. We discussed the leak at the Bray Birch Pool and we now know the cost to identify and repair the leak is approximately $1,800.00.

The committee is still exploring the alternate filtration systems for all the pools except the Slide Pool. This is due to the high level of cyanuric acid that is distributed into the pool through the chlorine tablets. The slide pool uses granular chlorine and the pool isn’t subjected to the high acid content.

The Amenity Center Pool (our newest pool) has numerous issues. The Developer has had some of the issues remedied and presented the bill to Lennar Homes for payment. We have again asked for the rest of the needed repairs to be completed and billed to Lennar, since all the issues were discovered within 12 months of the pool opening. Unfortunately, Lennar used a pool builder, Liquid Blue; and that company has filed for protection under the bankruptcy laws.
